Today's topic was suggested by another fan who will remain unnamed for safety reasons, and she suggested it be about why we close our eyes when we kiss our boyfriends or girlfriends?
When I've heard this question in the past, my automatic answer was because its rude to stare. That might be part ofi t, but I think it goes deeper than that. Love is the closest thing we have to magic, or at least that's what was said in the movie Aquamarine. I feel they were right about that, and I sort of wonder if its because you want to think of nothing but the kiss and who you're kissing.
Think about it, if your eyes are open, you're seeing everything in the room. Anything could distract you, thus making you either stop kissing them, or stop focusing on them. A kiss is a very personal thing, and most people don't realize it but the lips are the most senstive part of a human body.
I think eyes get shut to capture the magic, and try to keep it going as long as we can. Have you ever opened your eyes during a kiss? It sort of ruins the moment in a way, like you suddenly realize its real, not just a dream. You'd think that'd make it better, but it somehow doesn't.
We all want someone to love us like they do in the movies, and if you really love someone, and are kissing them, for a moment you can pretend you're in a movie, and are going to live happily ever after. That's just my take though, there may not actually be a reason past "its rude to stare".
